Paavo Nurmi
Marathon
Paavo Nurmi marathon 15.-16.8.2025
Paavo Nurmi Festival will come to a deserving conclusion when thousands of runners take to the streets of downtown Turku in the Paavo Nurmi Marathon. The beautiful route highlights the best of Turku: the shores of Aurajoki River, the beautiful island of Ruissalo, the Paavo Nurmi statue designed by sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen, and the streets of the city centre.
Participants in the Paavo Nurmi Marathon can choose between the 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre, half marathon or full marathon routes. There is also a Paavo Nurmi Minimarathon for children!
The first Paavo Nurmi Marathon was held in 1992. Organisers had been considering the idea for some time, but the final spark came from the World Masters Athletics Championships held in Turku in 1991.
