Paavo Nurmi School Tour

The Paavo Nurmi School Tour has been visiting elementary schools each spring since 2014. During the past eight years, we have met nearly 50,000 schoolchildren. In 2021, the tour was carried out via remote lessons in 50 schools in Southwest Finland.

Since the very beginning, the main focus of the tour has been introducing schoolchildren to the achievements and story of running legend Paavo Nurmi, who was one of the most decorated Olympic athletes of all time and the most successful Finnish athlete ever. The tour also includes school visits by Finnish track and field athletes, who work with us to highlight the shared values of the Olympic movement. The goal of the tour is to increase awareness of Paavo Nurmi and encourage children to be physically active.
